About SJCC

St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, formerly a part of St. Joseph’s College was established in the year 1882 as an educational initiative by the French foreign mission Fathers. In 1937, the management of the college was handed over to the Jesuits, a worldwide Catholic religious order with a special focus on education.

Loyola College, Chennai, St. Xavier’s College Calcutta and St. Xavier’s College Mumbai are the other premier institutions in India run by the Jesuit Order. The Department of Commerce was established in the parent college in 1949.

In 1972, this department became an independent college under the name St. Joseph’s College of Commerce.

It is recognized under Section 2(f) and 12B of the UGC Act. It became an autonomous institution in October 2004. DEPARTMENT OF SPORTS

Applicants for B.Com, BBA, BA, B.Sc. and M.Com who are sports persons may apply for a seat on sports merit on the following conditions:

Games and Events:

Eligibility to apply:

• National or State representation (not earlier to 2020)
• PU, CBSE or ISC Board representation
• 50% and above marks in 2 nd PUC or 12 th std.

Selection trials will be held under the following guidelines:

• Representation as above.
• Academic proficiency with 50% minimum marks.
• Skill and fitness level.

How to apply

• Only a copy of the duly filled college online application form to be submitted to the sports department.
• Copies of sports certificates (State & National and International only).
• 1 passport size photograph (attached to the application form).
• Copy of I PUC or 11 th std. marks card or Class 12 th marks card (if completed).

IMPORTANT NOTE

• If any one of the above is not submitted (Hard Copy) to the sports department – the candidate will not be called for selection trials on sports merit.
• BBA, BA, BSC & BCOM (Analytics, Professional and Strategic Finance) selection trails will be on 3 rd April 2023 and the timings will be informed through messages (only for registered candidates).

About the Programmed

The Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) Honours Programme has been designed to prepare the change-makers of tomorrow and also to acquaint them with the necessities of the corporate world. Students, besides a challenging curriculum, are exposed to a mandatory social internship & corporate internship at the end of the first and second year respectively, a variety of value add-on courses, inter-disciplinary choice in courses, international industrial visits and a choice of several electives in their final year.
The four-year BBA Programme follows the NEP programme structure as specified by the Government of Karnataka.

Eligibility

It is mandatory for all candidates seeking admission to the 1st year of the degree programme to have successfully completed 12 years of schooling through an examination conducted by a Board/University. Mandatory eligibility for the Programme is a pass at the +2 level (ISC/CBSE/ other state boards/International Board/Karnataka PU Board) in any stream. Students with consistent high academic performance are advised to apply for this programme.

Round 1 Entrance Exam (SMAT) : On Campus at SJCC (Online Option only for NRI Candidates)
The candidates will be tested in the areas of Communicative Skills in English and Grammar, Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation and Numerical ability, Logical Reasoning, General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Accountancy,Economics and Management. The entrance exam paper will be for 60 marks consisting of 60 multiple choice questions (MCQs) for one mark each. The examination will be for a duration of one hour.

SMAT Question Paper Pattern:
Section A: Communicative Skills in English and Grammar
Section B: Quantitative Aptitude, Numerical Ability, Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation
Section C: General Knowledge and Current Affairs
Section D: Aptitude for Management, Accountancy and Economics

Guidelines:
• Each section will consist of 15 questions
• All questions are compulsory
• There will be no negative marking
Provisionally Selected candidates for Round 2 will be intimated through applicant login/E-mail.

Round 2: Group Discussion &Micro Presentation
Round 2 includes Group Discussion and Micro Presentation
Group Discussion topicswill be given on the spot, the candidates are expected to express opinions either for or against the topic.
Micro presentation round includes candidates presenting a concept/scenario/case from the pool of topics that will be given at the end of the GD round. The presentation will be for 3 minutes with a Q&A of 2 Minutes.
Candidates are required to attend the above mentioned round along with their E-admit card in formal attire.

Provisionally Selected candidates for Subject Knowledge Assessment and Personal Interview will be intimated through applicant login/E-mail.
Round 3: Subject Knowledge Assessment, Personal Interview and Document verification.
Provisionally Selected Candidates are required to attend the subject knowledge assessment and personal interview round along with their parents in formal attire. The candidates are compulsorily required to carry with them the below mentioned documents for document verification

HOW TO APPLY for BBA IN ST JOSEPH COLLEGE

Step1:
Application form for the entrance exam should be filled (fill in all applicable fields) and submitted online through the college website (www.sjcc.edu.in).
Step2:
On the success of the paymenttransaction and submission of the online application please note down the 8 digit Application Number generated by the software. The same should be quoted for all further correspondences during the time of admissions.
Step3:
Candidates can download the e-admit card and attend the online aptitude test. (Refer to eligibility and admission procedure /test dates /important dates for details)
Step4:
The list of the candidates selected for Round 2 of the entrance exam will be intimated personally to the candidate’s email ID they have provided.
