Christ University

Christ University was started as a college called Christ College in 1969. It is administrated by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), a Catholic Congress ion founded by an educationalist and social reformer, St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara in 1831. The college was established based on his educational vision. University Grants Commission gave the university an autonomous title in 2004. In 2006 the college was identified as an Institution with Potential for Excellence. The college was declared as “Deemed to Be University” by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in 2008.

Christ University is accredited with “A” grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council [NAAC] in 1998, 2004 and 2016. Christ University was one of the first institutions in India to be accredited in 1998 by NAAC.

Christ University has a lush green campus with state of the art infrastructure and facilities like a greenhouse, audio-visual enabled classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, seminar halls, auditoriums, library, sports department, gymnasium, Wi-Fi, cafeterias and hostels.

Library:

The library of Christ University has a rich collection of around 3, 00,000 books, 450 periodicals, 27 newspapers, 5000 CDs and DVDs. The library processes are computerized and are subscribed to 18 online databases with campus-wide access.

Laboratories:

There are 10 computer labs on the campus with internet facility and could accommodate 500 students at a time. The laboratories of science departments are well-equipped with modern apparatus.

Cafeterias:

Christ University campus has many eateries and dining facilities inside campus providing beverages, fresh fruits, snacks and meals. There is also a kiosk of Nandhini Milk Parlour run by Karnataka Milk Federation inside the campus for snacks and refreshments. The cafeterias on the cellar floor of Block N offers North and South Indian Cuisine.

Auditoriums:

Christ University has over 5 auditoriums for various programs with different seating capacities. The main auditorium has a seating capacity of 2000 people. The auditorium is air-conditioned and has projectors and audio-visual facilities. Other auditoriums have seating capacity ranging from 120 people to 1000 people. Apart from the auditoriums, there are seminar halls, lecture halls, conference halls, panel rooms, and council rooms.

Sports Facilities:

Christ University offers sports and games activities to its students. There are separate courts for cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, badminton, tennis, hockey, and throwball. There is a changing room facility on the campus for the students when taking part in sports activities. A separate gymnasium for both boys and girls with the availability of an expert are available on the campus under the sports department.

Parking:

The campus provides parking space for two-wheelers and four-wheelers.
