Christ University Bangalore

Christ University was established in 1969 as Christ College. The university is administered by Carmelites of Mary Immaculate [CMI]. The university is recognized by UGC and accredited ‘A’ by NAAC and MHRD. It became an autonomous institute in the year 2004. It was declared as a ‘Deemed to be University’ by MHRD in the year 2008.

The multi-disciplinary University which focuses on teaching research and service offers bachelor to Doctoral programs in humanities, social sciences, science, commerce, management, engineering, education, and law to over 21000 students. The campus is a living example for harmonious multiculturalism with students from all the states of India and around 60 different countries. CHRIST (Deemed to be University) publishes six peer-reviewed research journals and has published more than 300 books in Kannada and English. CHRIST (Deemed to be University) introduced the Bcom (Honours) programme to its basket of contemporary and progressive programmes, in June 2010.

This programme caters to commerce aspirants who desire to build their professional competence on a higher plateau with specialized knowledge in the field of Business and Commerce.

The curriculum is duly developed considering the desired level of knowledge exposure in the context of ever changing environment in global business.

The three year Bcom (Honours) degree programme is divided into six semesters and is designed as per the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) model curriculum prescribed by UGC. It includes core papers, discipline specific electives, generic electives and skill enhancement courses.

Students are required to undertake a research work (research article or report) during the fifth and the sixth semesters.

Successful completion of two such courses is mandatory for obtaining the Bcom (Honours) degree. Each open elective course will enable students to earn two extra credits.
